History
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church was founded in Elkview in 1870. For 44 years, members of the church congregation met in a one room school house on Rt. 119. In 1925, the first church building was constructed. This building was later set on wheels and moved down the road, across the street from our current location. In the 1970s, members of the church built the current church building, where still we gather to worship.
In June of 2016, a major flood devastate our church property. Once again, men of the church stepped out in faith and remodeled our entire church building. In the midst of tragedy, God was able to do exceedingly above anything we could imagine!
Since our founding more than 150 years ago, MPBC has continued to minister and spread the Gospel to our community and around the world through various ministries, including our youth camps, Judgement Island, and Elk Valley Christian School.
